Introducing Dave Maybee RMT!

Dave Maybee RMT is a graduate of Northumberland Massage College and is now a registered massage therapist. He has also been studying and practicing ear acupuncture for over 3 years and is now training to teach acupuncture seminars in Halifax and, as he is fluent in the Spanish language, internationally.
Massage therapy has a vast range of therapeutic effects, helpful in treating conditions such as; traumatic injuries, chronic pain and stress related disorders. Dave can also incorporate manual lymph drainage, myofascial, and deep tissue techniques, and will design a treatment that is right for you.
Dave also specializes in the effective healing of auricular acupuncture. Not only can this treatment provide quick relief of chronic pain, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, tendonitis and other conditions, it also can detect and treat imbalances in the body which act as blockages to healing. These imbalances are often completely undetectable by modern technology or the well-trained hands of any therapist, yet are preventing the body from being able to respond to therapy and return to health.

Auricular acupuncture is the stimulation of points on the external ear surface for the diagnosis and treatment of health conditions in other parts of the body, such as:

Allergies
PMS
Fatigue
Addictions
Migraines and headaches
Chronic back pain
Urinary tract infections
Irritable bowel
Hormonal imbalances

Dave’s goal with every patient is to form the most effective treatment plan by combining the soothing and therapeutic effects of massage with the subtle and deep accuracy of ear acupuncture to best suit your needs.

The ear holds a map of the body, consistent with the brain map discoveries of Canadian neuroscientist Wilder Penfield in the 1940's. This same brain map is also projected onto different areas of the body, the ear being the most detailed and precise projection. The map on the ear is in the form of an upside down foetus, with all of the fine details of every part of the emotional, energetic and physical body represented. The ear has the highest density of acupuncture points of the body.

The map that is projected onto the ear opens the door to regaining and retaining health. It allows us to not only treat a wide range of symptoms, but also to remove long-standing blockages from our physical and emotional bodies which often perpetuate those symptoms. This system is much different than the well-known NADA protocol, which is used readily by social workers and hospitals for trauma and addictions. Auriculomedicine proves to be more extensive and concise in its diagnosis and treatment protocols.

A little history on auricular medicine:
In the 1950s, Dr. Paul Nogier noticed that a local healer was treating sciatica by burning a small area of the ear. This discovery prompted him to investigate the relationship between locations on the ear and human anatomy. Through experimentation, Nogier realized there was a map of an inverted foetus on the surface of the ear, the anatomic regions of which corresponding to specific zones of the body. Nogier demonstrated that pain in any part of the body could be relieved by either needling, burning, massaging or electrically stimulating the region of the ear that corresponded with the anatomical area of the pain. Nogier called this process auriculotherapy.
